So here's the deal. Shane and I are planning to take a little trip to Europe this summer after he graduates. We are thinking we want to go to Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and the Czech Republic. I was just thinking, maybe some of you seasoned travelers out there might have some advice, recommendations, and the such that you might like to share with us. We are all ears!

Matt:
If you go to Vienna, Austria, in the first week of July I will be there.

Why should we go all the way to Vienna to see you when you can’t even come to SLO to see us? Did you see Austira on our list of places to visit???

Matt:
That’s right. I haven’t been to SLO twice.
I also didn’t spend a week there in September.

I’ve never been to Spain or the Czech Republic. And the only place I’ve been in Italy is Milan.
But you really ought to spend some time in Switzerland…Geneva and Zurich are both nice.
And be sure to go to the French Riviera…Nice is, well…nice.

I’ve always heard that Istanbul is beautiful. They say it is the gateway from Europe to the east. I’m afraid for you to go. Americans aren’t a popular people right now. Therefore, I highly recommend Catalina. I’ve actually been there.

Shut up. No one likes you.

Well, I would say ol’ Constantinople is not conveniently located to the rest of the places you are planning on going.
That’s why Rome fell…

Yea, I doubt we will make it to Turkey. I don’t think Catalina would be a good substitute for Europe either. I can’t imagine spending a month in Catalina. And what do you mean?? Everybody LOVES Americans!

Nathan:
Rome is a must, of course.
Venice is beautiful and wonderful but I think planning ahead for lodging might be a good idea. Be sure to allow extra money so you won’t feel bad getting gouged for a gondola ride.
Stay at least 5 days in at least one place. Don’t hurry.

So the big question as well is where to spend time in France if you want to do something more than Paris. I say to heck with the South of France, and visit a mountain town like Chamonix.
There would be some nice day-hiking in the alps, beautiful valleys and flowers and such, and maybe even cable cars up mountains. You could probably find a summer-priced ski-lodge type hostel to stay in, too- much cheaper than in a big city.
