I'm curious... I have been having a debate with my husband. We have been discussing the average amount of time one spends taking a shower. I take about 10 minutes, including shaving. Shane averages about 30 minutes. 30 minutes! I think 30 minutes is a long shower. He disagrees. He does shave in the shower, so it takes a little longer, but still, minus the shaving, he is in there over 20 minutes.
I am interested in knowing how long you, dear reader, spend in the shower. Am I crazy? Is 30 minutes average? I always thought my 10 minute showers were a little long. My dad, the speed showerer, can shower in like, 3 minutes. And in my teenage years, when water in California was really scarce during the water shortage, we had to turn the water off when we were soaping up and stuff. Oh, and there was a bucket in the shower under the spigot to collect the water that dripped out that my dad would use to flush the toilet or to water some plants. So, maybe I am wrong. Enlighten me. Please.

Keep in mind also that when i am taking these 30 minute showers, it’s THREE AM!

I normally spend about 10 minutes in the shower these days. But that’s only because my shower here sucks. When I lived with my parents and I had things like hot water and water pressure, I spent about 30-40 minutes in there.
Add to that the 45 minutes spent going potty and a majority of my day was spent in the bathroom.

Yeah! What’s up with that? Brian is in the shower for 30 minutes too. And he doesn’t shave in there. He shaves afterwards. I’m in and out in 10 minutes and I shave while in there. I use to have to take “Navy showers” when I was married to Gary because of the drought at the time. I thought it stunk because I was sure that I was the only one in the city having to do it….little did I know there was another family across town doing the same thing. Somehow I don’t feel so bad now.

When I had long hair I took about 30 minutes in the shower, average, including shaving.
With short hair it’s 15 minutes maximum.

I think 30 minutes is a perfectly all right, considering he’s shaving.
My own personal shower quirk is to leave the water on UltraHot for the 10-15 minutes I spend in the bathroom after I get out of the shower. I hate being cold in the morning, and I really like steaming up the bathroom. I discovered that this was a cool thing to do when I lived in a poorly-heated apartment in wintry Boston, but even in temperate Cali I continue to abuse the hot-water heater.
