I am at that uncomfortable stage where none of my clothes are fitting me right but I can't get away with wearing maternity clothes either. I know I could go out and just buy a bigger pair of jeans or some other items of clothing, but I can't bring myself to do it. I know that I wouldn't like the way I look in them and it wouldn't solve the problem. I am in that in between stage where I don't really look pregnant yet, but my body isn't it's normal shape. I feel like a fat girl. I have only gained about 5 pounds, but man, can I feel those 5 pounds.
Tonight we went out to dinner and I took off the dress I had been wearing all day, tried on several different ill-fitting items, then put the dress back on. I feel like I have been living in this dress. It's frustrating, but at the same time, at least I have a reason for gaining a few pounds. I don't really mind that much. I just want to feel comfortable. Size 6 jeans are not comfortable right now and i just need to deal with it and enjoy this well worn sundress while I still can.

Have you tried any low rise pants? Some of mine are low enough that they don’t feel bad. Or, a trick I’ve tried before is wearing a longer or untucked shirt with my pants unbuttoned, but held together with an elastic band…good in a pinch.
Also, check out some of the maternity clothes. They are making such great stuff now- way better than when I was pregnant with Grant 4 years ago. A lot of the pants/ shorts/ skirts have descreet panels or no panel at all that you could possible wear with a normal shirt to avoid the “tent” look of maternity shirts that don’t fit yet. If you simply have to have some extra clothes, you’ll get use out of them for the weeks following delivery before your body gets back to normal. So, it’s not a complete waste of money.

I suppose I should just go shopping and get some stuff. I do have some materrnity stuff, I just am embarrassed to wear any of it yet. I gotta figure something out.

Go for it, buy the maternity stuff. The second time around, Gwen couldn’t wait to start wearing her maternity stuff. As soon as she started wearing it she was very happy. Many of the dresses are “stretchy” so you can wear them from at 12 weeks all the way up to 40 weeks! And be sure to get one of those cool nursing night gowns…shane will love it.

Jeremy, what are you talking about?! Unless you know something I don’t, all of the nursing nightgowns and accesories are extremely dowdy. Yuck. I regret having bought that stuff and didn’t wear any of it with Dean.

Tisra…I tried not to spell it out since it may make some people blush but those nursing night gowns have shall we say…openings in the front for easy access to the forbidden fruit…get it? Sorry for the R rated entry in your comments Erika.

I knew what you were referring to. I just don’t know as the “easy access” panels make up for the ugly fashion. And is the fruit as fun when it’s functional? I shouldn’t go there. Sorry. I don’t blush as easily as I used to now that I’ve been through all this before.

The answer is a definite “YES”. And it is good for coffee creamer if you run out.
