We had an earthquake today while I was at work. It was off the coast of Rosarito in Mexico and it was a 5.2. I guess that's big. It felt pretty big 5 floors up. The first thing I thought of was that they are currently working on plans to rebuild the tower of the hospital I was in because it is not earthquake safe. We survived. I didn't brace myself in a doorway or duck under any furniture. I just stood there. Apparently there were three of them in a row. I felt two of them. It was bumpy. It wasn't that scary. They usually happen at night and I sleep right through them. I think everything around here is okay. Not sure how Mexico faired. They really don't seem to happen that often and unless they are really huge, they are pretty uneventful. Although, the few seconds they last seem like hours when you are in them. Ah, the joys of living in California.

I’d rather have an earthquake than a tornado any day of the week! Having never been in a bad one, I always thought they were fun and have fond childhood memories of the shaky rollercoaster-like feeling. Memphis is on a fault line, so we occasionally get rumbles- but it doesn’t pose a serious threat like out there. Really, I just hate tornado storms…especially since we don’t have a basement.

Matt:
Hmmm…I didn’t feel any earthquakes up here.
Oh…and I’m leaving now.
