We just got home from Ethan's four month check-up. According to the growth chart, he is the size of most 7 month olds. We knew he was big. He weighed in at 18 pounds, 5 ounces and was 27 inches long. He is our little football player. The doctor said we can start trying rice cereal anytime now. He also said he thought Ethan was teething. Shane had two teeth by this time and I didn't get my first tooth until I was 9 or 10 months old, so who knows. He had to get his immunizations...four shots in his little chubby legs. He was really good and didn't cry much at all. We'll see how he is later today.

My little boy is growing up!

E. I’m so glad that Ethan is doing so well. It’s so hard for me to be all the way accross the US without getting to hang around you all and meet my little nephew. I’ve got about 8 pictures of him up on the glass border that goes around my cubical. The pictures are facing out on a corner of a hallway for the world to see. It’s not unusual to have 3 or 4 people around laughing and cheering him on. Everyone asks if he is my son or if they are my baby pictures, and I say “no, he’s my nephew” with pride knowing that the little guy resembles his uncle a bit. Anyway, keep up the good work Mom.

So big. We haven’t had Lael weighed yet, but I’m almost certain she’s not 18 pounds. Looking forward to seeing him in a few weeks!

Andrew, I hear you’re just a hop, skip, and jump from us- how are you enjoying Tennessee? We love Nashville, but that first year was a bit of an adjustment.

Hello Tisra, Pamela and I are having a difficult time adjusting, but are totally stoked that it’s spring. That winter was looong. Things are going well, but miss our home. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. I love the spring pastell colors. Pamela, Abby (our dog) and I love to go on local hikes, and the little flowers an plants are out. Also we live accross from a big steam plant that has a flashing light at the top. Tonight I noticed that Lightning bugs were syncronized with it, like little space craft answering the call of the mother ship.

Andrew, I can’t speak for the area you live in, but here in Nashville there are so many transplants (and people seeking to hit it big in music) that it’s difficult to find native nashvillians. That helped because so much of our church family/ friends were able to relay their personal stories of adjustment and be an encouragement to us. If you’re ever in Nashville, let us know (welcome to stay with us)- it’s a great weekend getaway. Anyway, hang in there, it just takes time. And at least you’ve got eachother- some day you will look back on these early years in your marriage and the trial that this was and you will be able to talk of God’s provision and the growth you exprienced together. Good times.
