We had a pretty busy weekend. It was our friend Jim's birthday on Friday and since he is a big Star Wars fan, we went to Fidel's and then to see the new Star Wars movie. Ethan stayed home (well, he didn't stay home...he just didn't come with us) and it was kind of nice to be out with friends and each other. We went to Fidel's for dinner (everybody's favorite) with about 10 other people, then headed to the movies. Now, I grew up with Star Wars all around me. I have probably seen the original Star Wars movies, like, 100 times each thanks to Andrew, but I cannot remember for the life of me more than the basics. I don't hate it like I used to and I do enjoy seeing the movies, but I cannot keep things straight or remember enough from the other movies to make sense of a lot of the things that happen. Anyway, I liked it better than the last two and thought it was pretty good aside from the cheesy love scenes. Our friend Matt came down to see it with us and spent the weekend, so we had even more fun ahead of us.
Saturday morning, we went to Panera for bagels. Shane needed to do some work, so Matt, Ethan, and I decided to leave him alone for a while and called our friend Adam. He was working and said we could meet him for lunch in Pacific Beach if we wanted to. So, to Pacific Beach we went. We had to wait for him a little while as he was in the middle of dealing with some fight he had to break up (he is a police officer). We ended up at Jack In the Box since he didn't have a lot of time. It was the first time we had ever seen him in his uniform and been with him while other people saw him in his uniform. People called him sir and really listened to him, even if he was just explaining to them that they needed to be buzzed in at the counter to use the bathroom. There was respect in the air. It was funny and cool. Ethan got a badge sticker from Officer Adam and we headed home. Later that evening we met up with both Adam and Alicia at an ice cream shop and hung out for a while. It was nice for all of us to be together again. Afterwards, we went and visited Ryan, Mandy, and Macy at their house. We stayed there until Ethan could stand it no longer. Lots of time with friends this weekend, which was lots of fun. It was nice to be out and be social and I had a good time. I think we all did.

Sounds lovely. It can be so refreshing to have time with friends, can’t it. I find that especially true these days when I have less and less free time.
And I’m an adult, but I think it would be cool to get a police sticker from Officer Adam.

I hear you about Star Wars! I have never been able to get into it. For some reason I just end up feeling confused and somewhat overwhelmed. I do want to see the new one, and hopefully I will allow myself to enjoy it, even if some things don’t make any sense to me.

Until yesterday I hadn’t seen episode II, it was on TV so I had to watch it. And beside bad acting and writing, I loved it. I had to ask some serious questions today with a guru at work. I’ve finally got it all straightened out. Someday I might watch all six in a row!

Matt got one, too. I think he was more excited about it than Ethan.
