We took Ethan to Nana's yesterday while we went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Ethan chose to skip the movie...he has no patience for Oompa Loompas). As we were leaving and saying our "bye byes," he started doing this funny thing where he takes his fist and kind of hits it on his chin. Upon returning from the movie (I kind of agree with Ethan- the Oompa Loompas were a little bit too much for me), Nana said she thought the chin hitting was his wave. We have tested it out several times since yesterday afternoon and have come to find that he is in fact waving bye bye in his own little way and will even do it with just being prompted to "say bye bye." It is very very cute and I am quite impressed. The little boy is growing up.

I am kind of sad that I have to work tomorrow. I think I have worked the last 3 years on the fourth of July and I never really cared that I had to. I will admit that would much rather work the 4th than Christmas or Thanksgiving. I don't think there has really been anything I was missing out on in the past, so I didn't really care. But this year, I am missing a party that many of my friends will be at (including Shane and Ethan most likely) and I will be taking care of sick people. I am a little bummed, but what can I do? In thinking about it today, though, it dawned on me that I have made quite a few really good friends over the past year which makes me very very happy. I love to hang out with them and I am thankful for all of them. I will be thinking about them a lot tomorrow as they swim in the 88 degree pool and BBQ and relax all day long while I am running around giving pills and shots and bedpans.
