So I may have strep throat. I went to the doctor yesterday and she cultured my throat juices and is supposed to call me today to let me know. In the meantime, I am taking “Penicillin vic” as my doctor called it just in case. I am usually such a healthy person! I have had a rough two weeks! I worked both Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and around noon on Wednesday, I started feeling like I had the flu. My temperature went up to 101.2 (I checked it about a million times throughout the day…there are thermometers everywhere at my work…) and I just felt like crap. My throat was super red and my tonsils and glands were swollen. Then came the white patches. I finished the work day and luckily had two days off to recuperate. I felt terrible yesterday. Today I feel a ton better. Still not “normal”, but way better. I think the antibiotics might be working. It is obvious poor Ethan feels like crap. He is very tired and clingier than usual. Luckily, my mom was able to help out a bit yesterday with him and give me time to go to the doctor and rest a bit. Today is the first day I have been able to really see him in three days due to work and being sick. He has a cold and a cough and his grabbing the back of his head (a headache?). I don’t think he has throat issues or I would take him to the doctor. I hate when he is under the weather. Poor little chap.

Pamela:

Strep throat sucks! I used to get it like 2 times a year every year until high school. It is a miserable ilness to have. I hope you get better soon.

I used to get it all the time, too! I was positive for it on my culture, so it was the real thing. I hope no on else gets sick.

Luckily, this episode was short lived.

I’m glad that you went to have a throat culture done. Now you are taken care of. Keep an eye on the little fella, and hopefully he is getting better also. It is so hard to tell with little ones. You are very lucky that he hasn’t been sick sooner!

Yuck. I’m so sorry. Strep and ear infections. I had those both a ton as a kid and have had them once or twice as an adult and it is AWFUL…its no wonder kids are cranky.
