Billy and Georgia are getting married in about two weeks and this weekend was the bachelor/bachelorette party weekend. Shane went with Billy and the guys up to the cabin where they did who knows what and the girls went out on Friday night. I think it might have been my first bachelorette party. I have been in so many weddings, but I don’t think any of the girls had parties…or maybe I just wasn’t invited. Well, this was quite a bachelorette party. We ended up at Dick’s Last Resort in the Gaslamp in downtown San Diego. I had been there before briefly and like, ten years ago or something, but it is quite a place. There were six of us, all Christians, and that place is crazy. And maybe sleezy is another good word to describe it. But we knew that ahead of time and that is the kind of party Georgia wanted. We had a blast. The cool thing about it was that there were so many people there, but they weren’t the “cool” people where you feel awkward and uncomfortable with yourself. We felt very comfortable and we were very popular thanks to the veil Georgia was wearing. We got a lot of attention. The place is messy…they throw stuff everywhere. At one point we asked for napkins and our waiter threw a whole pack of napkins up in the air to land on our table. It was snowing napkins. Everyone is throwing stuff at everyone. At the end, we were getting dollar bills thrown at our table from somewhere (only 2 bucks, though.) Georgia had to play a game where she had to do these random embarrassing things while we were there, like, take some food off of someone’s plate and eat it, find someone named Billy, sing a song to someone, etc. She was awesome and it was super fun.

I was very tired the next day, however, and on my own with Ethan. He is such a good kid and we had a fun day yesterday, We went to the Carlsbad outlet mall and shopped. He got new Vans (Old Skool blue velcro ones…prison issue, I hear they are called). And I got a pair of shorts and a shirt and a belt. We played by the fountain and tried unsucccessfully to get Ethan to throw the penny he found into the water. Later, the penny diappeared. I am hoping he dropped it instead of snacking on it….

Shane went straight from his weekend to church at 8 and is still there (it’s 1:30). We will see him soon and hear about his crazy weekend. I will close with Ethan’s new word for the week: LAGOON. Everytime we pass it, he says it over and over. But it is more like, Laloon.

I’ve never been to a bachlorette party, either. I’d have to say I’d be pretty uncomfortable with the “standard” descriptions of a bachlorette party. But it sounds like this one was fun.

And, let’s just say that Ethan is amazing! Lagoon?! My daugther finally started saying a few more things. Fish- shish. Cup- cuck. Shoes- shush. The favorite word is still DADA!!! I stopped nursing and all of a sudden I’m second fiddle. :-(

Glad that you are feeling better now Erika. Tisra, I was thinking of you and your family on Friday and Saturday. Is everyone okay after all of the bad weather?

Yea, I was thinking about you guys, too. You must be ok since you are commenting on blogs, but how is everything??

Yes, we’re okay. It was scary only because I wasn’t at home and had to wait for the right window of clear weather to race home. We have “tornado season” each year and there are always a few scary storms that keep us checking the radar on the news channel. But, for the first time since I’ve lived here (almost 8 years) it touched down in areas I would call too close to home. (although Eric was here in 98 when the bad one hit The Hermitage and parts of downtown Nashville). Some damage happened in Goodlettsville and Galatin and Hendersonville and we used to live on that side of town. As far as I know, everyone we klnow up there is okay.

Glad to hear that you are all okay. It was pretty bad in our area, but nothing in comparison to West and Middle Tennessee. We are blessed indeed!

I don’t know if I could handle tornado season every year. At least with earthquakes, you don’t have to know about them coming. You are brave. Glad you are all safe!

Tisra:

I’m with you, Erika! I’d rather have earthquakes than tornados also.
