Billy and Georgia were married this last Saturday and the events of our weekend (well, at least Friday and Saturday) were all wedding related. It was a really fun weekend but much of Sunday was spent recovering.
Friday night was the rehearsal. The wedding was at a friend’s house in Valley Center. They built this little make shift stage on the edge of there yard that overlooked all of Valley Center. Had it been a nice day, you may have been able to see the ocean. The reahearsal started at 4. It was overcast and very windy which means very cold. We were getting a preview of the day to follow. The dinner was at the steak house and the food was good. The company was better. It was a fun night and we were Ethan-less. My bridesmaid gift was earrings from Paris. Can’t beat that.
Saturday began with waking up early with Ethan, getting him all cleaned up and packed up and over to his Grammie’s. I had an updo at 11. My hair turned out awesome in my opinion. We had to be at Bates Nut Farm (also in Valley Center…never been there any other time than for pumpkins at Halloweek…very different look in April). It was sprinkling on the way there. It was very very cold. We took a few pictures and headed over to the house around 2ish. We helped get Georgia all ready. She had a beautiful strapless ivory dress. She looked lovely. The ceremony started around 4:30 and we kind of knew what we were in for. The little shrugs we had came off, in support of Georgia’s bare shoulders and out we went in our spaghetti strapped, knee length, sparkly silver dresses. It was ice cold. The wind was whipping through and we were shivering uncontrollably. Georgia’s arms were blue. My knees were knocking. About half way through, I couldn’t feel my toes. I was totally preoccupied with the thought that I was not going to be able to walk off of the platform we were on. Our shoes were insane. They were awesome, but they were definetly crazy. I don’t think I have ever worn anything like them before then and between the cold and the fact that all the blood was rushing straight to my big toe and my foot was bent all crazy due to the height of the heel I was wearing, I was sure I was going to eat it the first step I took and ruin Georgia’s wedding. I did make it off, thanks to Shane’s arm. It turns out I was not alone…all the bridesmaids’ feet were that way and several of them fell to the floor at the earliest opportunity. All shoes were removed immediately.
Back to Bates for more pictures, then to the house again for the reception. It was decorated so prettily. Georgia is so creative and has very good taste. The food was awesome. I drank more alcohol that night than I have probably in the last 5 years. I was fine, but I kept thinking it would warm me up. And it was that or coffee. After one cup of coffee, I switched to the booze.
The highlights of the reception were Georgia and her dad dancing to the song “Georgia”, the flower girl twirling like a ballerina and her ring bearer brother flying around like an airplane on the dance floor in and out of couple’s dancing, the ring bearer later insisting on dancing with Shane and only Shane and Shane obliging, the lack of rain despite the clouds and the coldness, and the sugar cookies on the centerpieces of each table (heart shaped, pink frosting. I ate like, 5 of them, I think. They were good.)
It was a very nice wedding and I hope they are happy as a married couple. They are in Cancun as we speak. I am sure Georgia is glad the wedding is over and she can have her life back. She was so busy planning and making things. She won’t know what to do with all of her free time now. She can hang out with me:)

Isn’t it awful when southern California weather betrays you? I hope its warmer in Cancun or them! Did you get pictures? I want to see the beautiful updo (you always look pretty regardless…) and the crazy shoes. Without a foot in them, the link doesn’t adequately show how painful they were.

We were half way there when we realized we had forgotten the camera. I will have to get some from friends to be able to show them. It was a bummer.
And in regards to the weather, Thursday and Sunday were beautiful, summerlike days. Oh well.
