When Shane and I got married, we were given something from Crate & Barrell that I didn’t really like so we returned it. As we walked around the store searching for something to spend our store credit on, we decided we would buy an ice cream maker. Kind of silly, but homemade ice cream! It sounded good. We used it a few times. One time I made vanilla ice cream and put M&Ms in it. The colored coating melted off and made the vanilla ice cream and brown color and the M&Ms were just chocolate chunks.

When we moved into our house, the ice cream maker was stowed away in a cabinet in the kitchen. 2 1/2 years later, I was cleaning the kitchen and there it was. I thought I better get it out and make something and get our money’s worth. I found the directions and so far I have made the best ever peach frozen yogurt. It is so very good and I don’t know how we have survived without it all these years. I just made some for a Father’s Day treat.

Here is the recipe (if you have an ice cream maker handy) 1-15 oz can of peaches pureed (with a 1/2 cup of the syrup the peaches are in) 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup of the peach syrup 2 cups lowfat vanilla yogurt Mix it all together, then put it in the ice cream maker (I mix it in the maker for 25 minutes)

It is so creamy and good. If you ever want to come over, I can make it for you! Just let me know!

So, the ice cream maker was a good buy.

When we got married, we bought the electric kind that need ice and salt. Very messy, and noisy, and then the motor died. Now we own one of the Cuisinart frozen bowl types with two bowls. We love it! I suppose we don’t use it all the time (that could be quite dangerous to our waistlines) but we use it often enough that it we feel it was worth the money and the cabinet space it takes to store it. :-) One of our last favorites was pumpkin ice cream and little pastry triangles (pie dough) that I garnished it with. I could go for some of that right now. But Eric loves peach- so maybe I’ll try your recipe soon.

Ours is a cuisinart also with the frozen bowl. The pumpkin ice cream sounds very good. Someone else was telling me about banana ice cream which also sounds very good. Oh, the possibilities!
