It’s a girl! Yay! We had a very good ultrasound and our little one was very photogenic. She posed in all sorts of adorable ways and we have a lot of great pictures as a result. This is one of our favorites…her little profile. The ultrasound tech wasn’t 100% sure it was a girl until she got a really good shot at the end and even to our untrained eyes, we are all pretty sure she will be wearing pink. We are very, very excited and a little surprised (I was pretty sure it was a boy). Seeing her inside of me moving around and trying to put her fingers in her mouth or itching her little leg was truly amazing. God is an awesome Creator.

I’ll admit to checking your blog a few times today in hopes of seeing this announcement. Girls are great!- Congratulations, you guys, on a healthy little one and bringing another little miracle into this world. I’m sure she’ll be fabulously adorable like her big brother and I’m thrilled that you’ll be able to experience the girly side of parenthood. :-)

Not really. It is kind of weird talking about it and telling people, though.
We are very fortunate to be having a girl because we had the exact girl name picked out and zero boy names. Her name will be Tegan McKenna. Tegan means pretty in Celtic and we both really liked it. I don’t know what we would have done if we were having a boy. His name might have been Ted.

Ted is kind of a joke. Shane initially liked it for Ethan, but I vetoed it and now it is the default name. I just can’t imagine a newborn baby named Ted. I know there have been some, but it is just hard for me to imagine.

I figured. “Bob”, and “Frank” are our default male names. And “Susan” seems to be the default female name. Although, in reference to what we might name a little girl, the default joke name that Eric has used for years now is “Consuela Shanikqua”. Thankfully, we’ll have more time to consider this and for him to come to his senses before we bring home another daughter. :-)
