I am pleased as punch and happy to say that I was able to finish the few projects I had set out to accomplish prior to Tegan’s arrival. I finished my embroidered stitchettes and they are framed and on the wall in her room. I think they look very cute. I really like doing embroidery and I am ready for more.

I finished the top of the quilt I was working on last week and it is at the quilters house being quilted as we speak. I will only have the binding left and it will be done. I love it. I want to keep it. I’ll post pictures when I get a chance.

Today is a better day and all is well. Other than I have a wicked case of chapped lips. I have been having problems with them for the last few months, but these last few days, they have become super chapped. They are killing me and nothing seems to help. I have been putting on chapstick, vaseline, anything and everything and it seems to be getting worse. Now it is creeping up to the skin around my mouth and it is all red and swollen. I am not licking my lips so I don’t know what is causing it. I am drinking water. I have searched for cures for chapped lips online and found a few things that I am going to try today. I currently have hydrocortisone cream on my lips which I am not too excited about, but if it works, I am all for it. We’ll see. I don’t know what I will do if it doesn’t work. Any ideas?

Today was kind of rough. I was just at my limit and anything and everything seemed to push my buttons. I bought myself some daffodils, but the mood still stands. I am trying to be patient with Ethan. He is such a sweet boy, but he is a lollygagger. His pace is always set at super slow as he takes in everything around him. I am set at full speed ahead and it just makes for some frustrating times. I need to slow down and let him take it all in. There is no reason to be in such a hurry.

I need to stop and smell the daffodils.

Sweet baby girl.

It’s been two weeks since little Tegan arrived. For the most part, all is well. She has a little bit of jaundice and so we are dealing with that, but she is beautiful and otherwise healthy and very, very sweet.

We got our ambulance bills in the mail yesterday. $1,150 for me, $1200 for Tegan. Thank God for insurance. I don’t know why I was surprised, but I was. I guess I would be willing to pay that much for all the paramedics did for us. I wouldn’t have wanted to do it on our own. Being at the hospital still would be my first choice. I ran into the paramedics at the grocery store yesterday. They totally recognize us and it is sort of embarrassing. I am trying not to be embarrased because I know they don’t care at all and it is just what they do, but it is weird to run into someone who has seen every bit of you like that at the grocery store. At least the paramedic who did everything was a lady. I am so appreciative and I think they are kind of cool, so I am trying to get past the “you’ve seen my naked” part and just be normal.

Tegan is snorting and fussing. I must go tend to her now. I will post a new picture soon. There are some new ones up at Shane’s flickr site.

Tegan has arrived! March 9, 2007 at 9:10 PM. She was 6 pounds, 8 ounces and 19inches in length.

The crazy part of the story is that she was born on our bathroom floor. It all happened so fast and before I knew it, she was coming and there was no way we were making it to the hospital in time. I ended up in the bathroom and would not budge from there. We called 911 just in time and Shane had to “apply gentle pressure” to her head to keep her in until paramedics arrived. I was ready to push and she was born within seconds of them getting there. Two little pushes. It wasn’t ideal by any means and I was so embarrassed and couldn’t stop apologizing. I really really wanted to be at the hospital and I felt like I should have known better. I don’t know what or how it happened, but it did. I didn’t really feel that bad until about a half an hour before she came-it was so sudden. So a few fireman, four paramedics, and four sherriff welcomedTegan into the world. It was crazy.

Anyway, she is great and I am great and she is beautiful and a wonderful little baby. Ethan is a great big brother we are all tickled pink. And we have an awesome story.

What the heck was I thinking???

I went today to the Wild Animal Park with a bunch of mom/kids from church. It was 85 degrees (at least). There was way to much hiking/stroller pushing up and down hills and so on. It was too hot and too much and I am so worn out. I ran out of water (I drank over a liter while there) and after driving half an hour to get home, I was still redder than a beat and sweating. Shane was not happy with me and I felt pretty bad about the whole thing. I shouldn’t have gone, but it sounded so fun and it was a lot of fun. It was just hot and a lot of work-even if you aren’t 9 months pregnant. If something was going to make this baby come sooner, that would be it. I am surprised I am not at the hospital right now! No more Wild Animal Park until after this little one arrives.

And then there were all these cupcakes! They were just as sweet! The theme of the shower was “kittens and cupcakes.” A lot of the decorations were handmade with that theme. Our pastor’s wife informed us at the shower that her ten year old son had requested she bring a kitten home from the shower. Very cute. There were no real kittens there unfortunately.

I had my last baby shower yesterday with all my church friends. It was huge and everything was beautiful including this crazy cake that took two friends five hours to make! It was gone in about 15 minutes. It was so pretty and it tasted delicious.
