I did it!, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

Some cutie just rolled over. Doesn’t she look proud of herself?

Thank you so much for your prayers. God is so good. Leaving the house and the drive to work was hard, but once I was there, I was fine and I had the best day. Everything went smoothly and I couldn’t have asked for a better first day back. Thanks again! Now I must go tend to my children!

June 25, 2007

Tomorrow is the day. Back to work. I can’t believe it is already here. I had about 4 months off, lucky me! Like I mentioned before, I have mixed emotions about it. Mostly, I am feeling a little nervous right now. I felt this way every day of work for the first two years I was a nurse. Sometimes it involved crying on my way there. I hope tomorrow doesn’t involve crying. It might. I just have no clue (ever) what my day a work will hold and it could be a nice, easy day where everything goes smoothly or it could be a crazy, running around like a chicken with your head cut off day where you are constantly one step behind and can’t see how you will ever make it to the end of the shift. I am praying for the former. I am praying for a good night sleep for me and for Tegan and that it will all go super smoothly and I will be happy to be there and back, regardless of the circumstances and what my day holds. I want to have a good attitude and to be happy. It is very easy to slip into having a bad attitude and to complain like crazy, especially when everyone else does which is often the case. I am really really going to try and have been praying this for myself over and over again. So, tomorrow, if you think of it, say a little prayer for me-and for our moms as they watch the kids and I will be ever so thankful!

We just finished watching Long Way Round last night. I am disappointed that we let it sit on our TV for 2 months before we watched it. I loved it and I keep thinking about it and wishing there was more. I am not a big motorcycle fan, in fact, I hate motorcycles to tell you the truth (mostly because of all the motorcycle accident victims I see) but this show was very cool. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman travel from London to New York on motorcycles and the trip takes something like 115 days. You get to see them interact with the people of the remote places, the beautiful landscape of these places and their struggle to get there on their bikes, as well as the actors themselves as the real people they are. It was extremely cool and I highly recommend it. Watching it almost made me like motorcycles:)

esly and tegan, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

Our good friend from high school days, Amanda, came to visit us today with her husband Andrew, her mom, and her new little girl Esly. She and Tegan are just a few weeks apart in age. Here is a picture of the girls saying hi to each other. We had a nice visit. It is amazing how much life changes with kids. Esly is beautiful and sweet as can be. I wish they lived closer so she and Tegan could play together.

Our church is meeting at the beach to hang out every Thursday night this summer and last night was the first night we made it there. I was a little bit apprehensive about going with a 2 1/2 year old and 3 month old, not knowing quite what to expect and expecting to be chasing th 2 1/2 year old down the beach with the 3 month old in my arms. It wasn’t that bad at all. Ethan was really good and played in the sand nearby most of the time we were there. There were a few other kids his age there and they played next to each other, ate a little sand, and had a great time getting as sandy as possible. At one point they moved over to this curb right next to the port-a-potty and started jumping off of the curb into the sand. They were loving it. The next thing we know, Ethan is leaning with his hands on the port-a-potty, pants down, and is peeing on the side of it. All we could see is his little bottom with his trunks around his ankles. It was so funny and everyone thought it was great. I so wish we had had the camera. He kept his pants dry the whole time we were out. I suppose I would really rather him go outside the port-a-potty than have to take him inside it and deal with that. I am very grateful he took matters into his own hands.

This last Sunday was our 7th anniversary. It is hard to believe we have been married 7 years. It’s hard to believe we have lived in six different apartments/houses (the last one for nearly four years!), been through two college graduations, spent 8 weeks traveling in Europe, four different jobs, and the births of two children in the past 7 years. It’s all a blur. A happy, happy blur.

Shane and I were blessed to be able to get away Sunday evening and spend some time together minus the kids, thanks to Nana. We were able to talk and catch up and had a great time. It was much needed and we both agreed we need to get away by ourselves more often. It was so nice and refreshing to be able to spend our time focused on us and not the crying baby-or the crying 2 year old:) Hopefully, it will happen again soon.

Ethan’s bed, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

And then there is Ethan’s bed. Knights, castles, and dragons. He is sitting there very proudly.

(Above the window to Ethan’s left is the “Bonne Nuit” sign you made for Ethan, Pam. I still love it!)

There are a few other pictures (well maybe only one) of Tegan’s crib and bedding on my flickr site if you are interested in seeing more.

This is a close up of the name banner my dear friend Georgia made for my baby shower. The theme was cupcakes and kittens and she drew all of the pictures. She is amazing. And then there are my stitchettes.

Tegan’s bed, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

This is mostly for my sister-in-law Pamela who asked what the nursery looked like. So, here is a picture of Tegan’s side of the room. She hasn’t really slept in her bed yet. I mostly use her crib as a distraction by laying her under her mobile for a few minutes while I try to get a few things done. Next, I will show you a close up of her name and the stitchettes on the wall.

I learned something pretty amazing while watching Ellen a month or so ago and I hadn’t had a chance to write about it. I want to write about it because it is a life changing thing for me and I want to share it with all of you too!

I NEVER can remember what side my gas tank is on in my car. I doubt I am the only one who has this problem. I am constantly trying to look out the window in my side mirrors to find out which side it is on as I am pulling up to the pump. So here it is… if you look at the gas gauge in your car, next to the little picture of the pump, there is an arrow. Whichever way the arrow is pointing, that is the side your pump is on. Amazing. Why did I not know this before? It is not like this in all cars-the Jetta doesn’t have an arrow, but I think most cars do have it. I was very excited to discover this and I will tell you that I have used that arrow several times since that episode of Ellen. Oh, Ellen, she is amazing!

I just saw this picture Shane took of Ethan and I thought I should put it up. Don’t want you to think that all we think about is Tegan around here! I love this picture. His expression is great.

pretty, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

Here is our big girl, almost three months old. Twelve pounds, two ounces and 23 inches a week ago. Growing up so fast but still so sweet and cuddly. I could just give her kisses all day long.

the front, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

Here is our newest little improvement to the house. We (Shane) took out two camelia trees/bushes and a holly type tree and we did this. So far, I like it. We still need to do along the front of the house, but we have this portion done. Stay away weeds!

June 3, 2007

My maternity leave and baby bonding time are officially over and I am now into my vacation time. I will be returning to work in just three weeks. My first day will be the 26th. Not looking forward to it. It stresses me out to think about preparing for leaving the kids, leaving them with our wonderful moms for such a long period of time (I know they can do it, I just don’t want to be taking advantage of them), Shane having to take care of both of them until I get home, and being gone for over twelve hours and all that is involved with that. It would be nice to be able to stay home all of the time, but it just isn’t in the cards at this point in time. I am a tad bit interested in returning to work. When I think about it, I get a tiny bit excited thinking about all the things I do and people I get to meet and the rush from the stress of running all over the place and the sense of accomplishment I feel when I make it through my day, but I know that will all be out the window the minute I get there and have to leave Ethan and Tegan. I would much rather be with them. I know I will be in tears on my way to work and several times throughout the first few days. Thank the Lord for our mothers (and that I am not sending them to daycare!) and that I have this awesome job that requires only two days a week of me and pays me so well. We are blessed.
