I had forgotten about my obsession with The Baby-Sitters Club books until I saw this blog. Very funny. I don’t think I ever really thought Claudia dressed that cool. I always thought she was a bit odd. Reading about it now is even crazier than it was back then. Ah, the 80s. I don’t know how far I got into the series, but I read a lot of those books. I would grab the next one the minute it came out and be done with it the next day. I wonder what happened to all those books. I am embarrassed to admit it, but a few of my friends and I even tried to start a babysitters club of our own. I did a lot of babysitting. $2.00 an hour. Big bucks.

I never got into those books, though I remember them being big. Maybe, because I never babysat. The only babysitting job I ever took was when I was in college- it was for Dr. Knight’s children (when I was his therapist). It felt odd for me. Although, I was interested enough in babysitting at one point that I asked my mom if I could babysit and she said I had to take the Babysitting Class at the hospital before I could advertise. I took the class and then never actually put my number out there. I did tutoring instead and made better money.

Aunt Natalie and I were talking about those books. I used to belong to the Baby-sitters club book club and used to get 3 new books every month. Then when I was 16 I sold the whole collection at a garage sale to make some money. I regret it now and wish I haved saved them for Gabi. We checked a few out at the library and I’ve read a few to her as she is not quite at that reading level yet. Seeing those books brings back memories!Dawn was my favorite.

Babysitters Club books were my favorite! We would go to the library ALL the time when we were little and I would check them out ever time, two by two. I think my favorite was Claudia, I think I liked her best because she was an artist, Although, I was secretly jealous of Kristy because she had that rich stepdad Winston. I never could figure out why she never wanted to take advantage and go shopping more…
