Did anyone else notice that the time lady retired? You know, 853-1212? I called it the other day after the time change, just to check as I set our clocks. It’s over. She is done. How sad is that? It made me sad, anyway. And I know with all the crazy stuff nowadays, everyone probably thought that there was no need for her anymore, but I will tell you…all my clocks have different times on them now and it is driving me crazy. Which one is right?? I liked her. She was reliable. I am sad she is gone.

My mom told me about that a week or two ago. It IS sad. What about those people who don’t have cell phones? How are babysitters supposed to threaten to call parents and actually dial and not have phone lady as ‘mommy’. Am I the only one who did that?? Now we can say “back in my day, there was a lady who always knew the time…”

You know, I haven’t dialed that in YEARS (certainly not since moving to nashville) but the second your post brought it to mind, I had her voice in my head and could picture my childhood house on Avenida Sevilla. “At the tone, Pacific Daylight Time will be…..”

I knew her when I first at the phone co. She was old then, I think she was 89 when she retired. Wow end of an era!
