I should be getting off of work right now, but a Christmas miracle happened today. I was able to come home at 3 PM and celebrate Christmas with Shane’s family. I even ate Christmas dinner. Work was totally fine and very mellow. The charge nurse decided to send someone home, so we all wrote our names on paper and she drew a name. She drew Ray’s name. Ray is a 60-something nurse I work with. We share December birthdays and I think he is my new favorite person. I had really come to terms with working today and had no problem staying if I had to, but Ray, upon having his name drawn, gave the rest of the day off to me. He told the charge nurse I wasn’t feeling well (which is sort of true-I have been sick and I sound not-so-hot, but I am ok). It was so kind of him and I think he might be part angel. So, I finished up my stuff and was out of there by three, at Nana’s by four. Shane and I just opened our presents which consisted largely of new music which made us both happy and I am contentedly sitting on the couch, sipping my cup of lovely tea forte-silken tea bags given to me by my sweet sister in law. The best part was how happy Shane and my kids were to have me home early. Their faces were full of smiles and love. It is a very happy Christmas.
