polishing, originally uploaded by Ladygirl.

Ethan went to the dentist today. I was kind of afraid to take him. He has been doing better lately, but after the broken leg incident, he was freaked out by anyone who messed with him. He would start losing it in the waiting room of the doctor’s office. His last few visits to the doctor have been ok, but you never know.

So, today was the day. And he did awesome. The hygienist said she has never had someone his age do so well. I thought they would get to count his teeth and that might be it. The kid let them take x-rays! They did everything they would have done at an adult’s visit and he didn’t bat an eyelash. AND! And he got bubble gum flavored polisher stuff. And strawberry flavored fluoride. And then three stickers, a flosser, a tooth brush, and a pencil. I was so relieved it went well. He is ready to go back again.

It was cool to see his x-rays. I didn’t realize you can see the adult teeth right there behind the baby ones. It was neat. I should’ve taken a picture of them.

I am just so happy he did so well and that it was a pleasant experience for all of us…hygienist included.

That is awesome! Did his adult teeth look crowded in his pano x-ray? Sometimes you can tell whether he will need braces by the way his teeth come in. Those are cool to look at, all of Gabby’s teeth are so crooked even the adult ones coming in. I am so proud of you Ethan!

They didn’t look crowded, but he apparently has a mean overbite which could mean braces. I am pretty sure he will need them…Shane and I both had them. And what kid doesn’t get them these days?

What an awesome job, Mr. Ethan!

My dear Lael had to be pinned down by two hygienists to look in her mouth the last time (she cracked a tooth…so it had to happen, we couldn’t have left it at “counting teeth”). I wanted to cry when I got home.
