I noticed today that Ethan had a new little expression, “ah coy”. He says in a funny little way and as if he were saying, “oh darn” or something. At the end of the day, Ethan, Shane and I were playing an exciting game of Old Maid. I think at the point when Ethan drew picked the Old Maid and he shouted out, “ah coy”, we finally decided to ask him what it meant. He couldn’t really tell us what it meant, but when asked where he heard it…why, from Donald Duck of course. “Ah phooey” apparently sounds like “ah coy.” It was making us laugh before we knew that, but afterwards, it made it even more hilarious. He used it in context. Because you know that is what Donald would say if he drew the Old Maid.

I love that! I haven’t played Old Maid since I was a kid… don’t remember how. Now I totally feel like the worst mom ever- my kids have never played Old Maid. Must do that asap (after I google how its played, of course)!
