Today, I discovered why only females should be invited/attend baby showers.
We were invited to a couples/family “Stork Tea” for the wife of one of Shane’s coworkers today. We have become friends with several of his coworkers and their families so it was fun for all of us. One of the most exciting things for Ethan…a little friend was going to be there. She is three. She is cute as a button and very sweet. She and Ethan hit it off the last time they were together. He drew her a picture before hand and was very excited to see her. At the end of the shower, the two of them were out by the front gate and Shane and I were looking out the door, only to see her grab him and hug him. Next came the kiss. On the lips. Ethan’s first kiss. It was a crack up.
As we were putting him to be tonight, he asks, “How does a baby get out of a mommy’s tummy? Does it rip a hole in her tummy to get out?”
“Um, no…it just comes out when it is time….”
“But how does it get out? Where does it come out?”
So I kind of had to tell him vaguely and explain that it is only something he should talk to mommy and daddy about.
Wow. All this in one day! And not even four yet! No more baby showers for that kid!

What a cute story. My son had to know the details before baby Kea came out. He was very curious. I think it is better for them to know young though. I have a friend who’s 3rd and 5th grader just found out where babies come out from. They totally freaked out and were disgusted.

Trey used to watch Baby Story with me on TLC when I was pregnant with Leah. He knew most of the details. However, he’s forgotten a lot of them. Oh, and he got his first plant on the lips at a few mos old by a little girl and it hasn’t stopped. He used to get in trouble at prek for kissing his ‘girlfriend’. Oy vey.
