I am totally loving this. Love the song, love the video.
I am totally loving this. Love the song, love the video.
I wanted to post a picture of the “hugs” Ethan and I made for the kids in his class for the Valentine’s Day party they are having tomorrow. Aren’t they sweet?
A few months ago I was given a handout having to do with child-rearing. It sat on my bedside table until last night when I whipped it out and read it. It was very good and the author, Nancy Leigh DeMoss made an impression on me. She has a radio show called “Revive Our Hearts”. The article I read was actually a transcript from one of her shows. The transcript was actually from a series called God’s Beautiful Design for Women: Living Out Titus 2:1-5. I decided today to read a few more of them that addressed husbands. I was so…humbled and challenged and I am addicted. I have read four of the transcripts from the series now and they are great. There are three about husbands and how we are to be as wives and man, did I need to hear it (sorry Shane!). I feel challenged to be a better wife, to complain less, to love more, to encourage more. It was very good and I really challenge you to take the time to read through them.
I also read one titled “Your words reveal your heart.” Once again, it got me. My tongue, I know, needs some desperate taming and I am hoping I am now on the right track.
A few of the things she said..”Slander can involve just assuming negatively on somebody else’s motives” we don’t know where they are coming from, how can we judge? I do this and of course I knew this, but reading it made it sink in a bit deeper.
“Remember that your husband’s strengths and weaknesses are exactly what God knew you needed for you to become the woman God wanted you to be.” And the same goes for me. And for the way he made our kids.
There was also a quote by Charles Spurgeon that resonated with me:
He who grows in grace remembers that he is but dust, and he therefore does not expect his fellow Christians to be anything more [including your husband]. He overlooks ten thousand of their faults, because he knows his God overlooks twenty thousand in his own case. He does not expect perfection in the creature, and, therefore, he is not disappointed when he does not find it.
There is also lots of scripture and I could go on and on, but please go take a look. Look at the titles of the messages and see what strikes your fancy, but I highly recommend Make Your Husband a Priority, Letting God Shape Your Husband,What Your Husband Needs, and Your Word’s Reveal Your Heart.
If you want to just browse, it was a little tricky for me to find the actual manuscripts. The CDs are for sale and every time I searched for “God’s Beautiful Design for Women, it lead me there. Here is the link to some of the transcripts. I think the series started September 19th and may go into November as well.
So, please, go give it a try…just try one and maybe you will be hooked like me. Then we can talk about it!
It bums me out that I don’t often remember my dreams, but I had one the other night and it is still kind of cracking me up.
I have been making a lot of meals for people lately. Babies, surgery, etc. So, I was trying to get to someone’s house to deliver them a meal. I have known these people my whole life, though we have kind of fallen out of touch with them. They were living at a house they probably lived in over 20 years ago and I was headed there, but the road wasn’t there anymore and I was driving and driving and driving. I finally get there, flustered and walk in. And all I have for them is a can of split pea soup. I promise that I have never delivered anyone a can of split pea soup before and I never will. So odd.
