These PVC pipes kept Ethan busy for over an hour today as he tried to rig up a sprinkler for the plants. He was so intent on getting it to fit together (minus glue). It was also very much a boy activity, which made me happy and it did end with mud. And then a bath. (I have a such a hard time with mud!)

Ethan is my little helper. Today, we started a new baby quilt. He insisted I let him lay out the squares (he did a pretty good job, really). I wanted to take a picture after I laid them out to see how it looked and he wanted me to take one of him next too it. I know I need to be enjoying every minute he is here beside me, wanting to be there. Sweet little boy.

Our little sweet pea woke up with a super stuffy nose this morning. Such a bummer. She is a pretty good sport though, and she blows her nose like champ. Just a few minutes ago, the kids were outside playing in the kiddie pool and she came in and stated she was done. In her almost incomprehensible stuffed up little girl voice. I cleaned her off and she was saying some stuff to me I couldn’t understand. The next thing I know, she is doing it herself, getting a bag of our pinata treasures down so she could “get a new nose.” And here it is. Much less stuffy.

Lunchtime banter….

Ethan: “Oh no, Tegan! A dinosaur ate our mommy and now we have a new one!”

Tegan: “I don’t understand what you are saying.”

There is a little girl E at our church that Ethan met a few months ago and the immediately decided they were going to be married someday. Shane and I tried to talk him out of this early engagement for sometime, but he (and she) were set on it. We agreed, if the two of them were still on board, that they could get married, after finishing college of course.

So today, leaving church, Ethan says to me, “E is not my biance’ anymore. I have a new biance’.” Apparently there is a new girl in his class and E is on the back burner and this new girl has won his heart. Mostly, I try not to talk about it or encourage it, but I couldn’t get over him calling her his biance’ and he said it probably a dozen times. It cracked me up. He doesn’t even know the new girl’s name. I am sure it is true love that will last forever.

Here is the boy, first day of preschool. I can’t even imagine if we has started kindergarten this year. There is no way I would have been ready! I was looking at his picture from his first day last year and he has grown up a lot since then. I can’t believe he is almost five!

I posted a few weeks ago about how I had participated in a “favorite things” swap. It was so much fun, I did it again (as I also mentioned I was going to do). This time, I was paired up with the wonderfully creative Faith (seriously talented… she made her own crib!). I received her package a few days ago and it was so great! It is always fun to get a package in the mail and hers was lovely. The minute I opened it, the lovely scent of lavender-tangerine soap filled the air. She sent me the soap on a sweet fish soap dish, pancake mix from a local mill (I was so excited to make it until I realized our syrup had an expiration date of sometime in 2008, so it will have to wait till the weekend). She is an aspiring photographer and sent me two beautiful photographs she took, a pocket crosswords book that has a great cover, a Korean pencil pouch with See’s candy lollipops in it, and two awesome pieces of fabric which I can’t wait to turn into something! Also, not pictured because it is in the CD player is a mixed CD she made of songs for both parents and kids to enjoy together. We have already enjoyed it and best of all, the cover had a robot on it. We love music and robots around here. I was so excited! Thanks so much Faith for sharing your favorite things with me and for becoming my new friend!

I saw these houses at Costco and I knew we had to get one. I felt a little weird spending money on cardboard, but it was a pretty good deal and the kids have been very entertained by it. Today, Ethan set it up all by himself, with the plants and the towel and started cleaning around it (ugh, all the leaves!). I think it was a good purchase!
