I have decided to participate in my friend Nicole’s challenge to memorize a verse a month. I feel like this in an area I need to have some serious growth in. How can I be close to Him if his word is not hidden in my heart? So, here I go!

The verses in 1 Corinthians 13 have been close to my heart lately, as I try to impart them on my kids and also realize how much I need them. I decided to start here. It is a little lengthy, but I really want to have it memorized so I can draw on it as I need to as I instruct my children and have struggles of my own as I try to love others.

I would love to have others join me in Nicole’s challenge!

Sarah :

I know I need to make more time in my life to become closer to God. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and push what really keeps me going to the side. At the end of the day, I’m so exhausted that all I want to do is crash. I made a personal goal to set some time aside for study and prayer. My verse for January (and February, since it’s taken me so long to get around to it) is Proverbs 3:5. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” I’ve to give up trying to rely on me and me alone to get through life. I know I can rely on my family, too, but ultimately it’s not a power in this world that moves me.

I will. This has been on my heart also. I’ve been scribbling down a ton of verses that I want to memorize…I think I’ll start with Psalm 23:26…thanks for the exhortation friend :)

I am so glad you guys are encouraged and! I went to a Bible Study today and something the leader said really stuck with me… we are all busy, we have way more to fill our days with than there is time and as hard as it is to carve out time, we NEED to do it. It is vital! Devotion to Christ is costly, but we are going to have to sacrifice other things and make Him a priority. That is the only way we can truly know Him and grow closer to Him, by being in prayer and being in the word, meditating on it, and applying it to our lives.

Thanks for your encouragement too!!

Wow Erika! Yes! That was a very inspiring lecture today from Janet! I’m so thankful for BSF, we are so blessed to be a part of this fantastic journey in scripture. The homework can be tough sometimes but I know it’s God doing His work in me, wanting me to conform to His image. Girls, if you haven’t joined BSF, do so next week at the orientation class. You will never regret it. Don’t put it off “for a better time”. The time is now! His banquet table awaits you. Be a Mary and sit at His feet!
